Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis P.A. were founded by Joseph Haynes Davis, Esquire who brings a wealth of common sense experience to the client-driven full service law practice conveniently located one block away from the Orange County Courthouse, in the beautiful Cornerstone Condominium located at150 North Orange Avenue, Suite 415, downtownOrlando,Florida. The Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis, P.A. purchased the office at Cornerstone on August 31, 2006. Our philosophy at the Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis, P.A., is that the client is best served when the law office is equipped to assist the client from a full service perspective, at reasonable cost, providing competent, professional legal services.  The Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis, P.A. first opened its doors on January 8, 2001.

Mr. Davis received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers Law School, Camden, New Jersey, in 1996 and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, received in 1992. His focus at the University of Pennsylvania was Criminal and Juvenile Justice. Davis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Communication/Journalism from Illinois State University, Normal,Illinois in 1981.

Mr. Davis is licensed to practice in the State and Middle District Federal courts of Florida.  His related memberships include the Florida Bar, and the Rutgers Law School Alumni Association.  Mr. Davis is a former policy issuing agent of Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund, Incorporated for all real estate matters, commercial and residential.  Mr. Davis has been court appointed in the areas of Criminal, since 2009, and Probate, Guardianship and Mental Health for Orange County and the 9th Judicial Circuit since March, 2002. Mr. Davis has been court appointed in the area of Probate, Guardianship and Mental Health for Sarasota County and the 12th Judicial Circuit in March, 2008.  In 2008, and 2009 and 2011 Mr. Davis was appointed to serve as an exemption/classification special magistrate by Orange County, Florida. In 2009 and 2011 Mr. Davis was appointed to serve as an exemption/classification special magistrate by Manatee County, Florida, Hillsborough County and Flagler County. In 2012 Mr. Davis was again appointed to serve as an exemption/classification special magistrate by Flagler County, and Seminole County.

In 1993, Mr. Davis served as law clerk to the Honorable James M. DeLeon, Circuit Court of Common Pleas inPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania. That Court handles both criminal and civil matters.

Mr. Davis also holds a Master of Social Work from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, received in 1992. His focus at the University of Pennsylvania was Criminal and Juvenile Justice. His social work practicum was served at the Juvenile Law Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he counseled adolescent clients represented by the Law Center, from 1989 until 1991, and at the Youth Development Center, Bensalem, Pennsylvania (a maximum security institution for male offenders) from 1991 until 1992.

Sworn into the Florida Bar on December 27, 2000, Mr. Davis incorporated of the Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis, P.A. in January of 2001.  The primary areas of practice are real estate law, mortgage law, personal injury law, creditor representation in bankruptcy, landlord and tenant law, entertainment and sports law, probate, guardianships, mental health legal matters, contract negotiation and formation, employment law, small business incorporation and consulting, corporate law, criminal law, juvenile law, traffic and DUI matters, all civil matters, bankruptcy and communication/broadcast law issues along with municipal legal matters.

Mr. Davis is or has been:

  • Court appointed in the area of Criminal, Probate, Guardianship and Mental Health for Orange County and the 9th Judicial Circuit since March, 2002.
  • Court appointed in the area of Criminal, Probate, Guardianship and Mental Health for Sarasota County and the 12th Judicial Circuit March, 2008.
  • In 2008, 2009 and 2011 appointed to serve as an exemption/classification Value Adjustment Board special magistrate by Orange County, Florida.
  • In 2010, and 2011 appointed to serve as an exemption/classification Value Adjustment Board special magistrate by Manatee County, Florida.
  • In 2011 appointed to serve as an exemption/classification Value Adjustment Board special magistrate by Hillsborough County, Florida.
  • In 2011 appointed to serve as an exemption/classification Value Adjustment Board special magistrate by Flagler County, Florida.
  • In 2012 appointed to serve as an exemption/classification Value Adjustment Board special magistrate by Flagler County, Florida and Seminole County Florida.
  • Local counsel to Shapiro and Fishman, LLP Tampa, Florida for foreclosure appearances in Orange County Florida and Seminole County Florida, August 2008 through 2010.
  • Election location legal counsel to the 2008 Barack Obama Presidential Campaign.

 

In April of 2001, Mr. Davis was appointed by the City of Sanford, Florida, City Commission to serve as a Commissioner of the Sanford Housing Authority.  In May of 2001, Mr. Davis was elected the Chairman of the Sanford Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.  In January of 2002, after achieving positive results from his involvement with the Board, including helping to secure an Executive Director, Mr. Davis and received the Certificate of Meritorious Service Award from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for his exemplary service as Board Chairman.  Mr. Davis resigned from the Board to devote his full attention to the Law Offices of Joseph Haynes Davis, P.A.

Mr. Davis has a distinguished entertainment, communication and radio broadcast history, with a quarter of a century of broadcast excellence.  Formally with Cox Radio Incorporated at WCFB-FM, “Star 94.5”,Orlando,Florida, he has also held broadcast management positions with KRNB-FM Dallas/Ft. Worth,Texaswhere he was Program Director, and WXPN-FM Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (National Public Radio from the campus of the University of Pennsylvania) where he was a member of the Policy Board. His resume of successful radio stations includes WGLT-FM, Normal, Illinois (National Public Radio from the campus of Illinois State University) KMJM, St. Louis, Missouri, WYLD-AM/FM, New Orleans, Louisiana, WUSL-FM, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, WDAS-FM, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and WVEE-FM, Atlanta, Georgia.

Davis is a past winner of the Assistant Program Director/Music Director of the Year by Billboard R&B Monitor radio trade publication (2000.)  In March 1998, he was the recipient of Illinois State University’s prestigious Outstanding Graduate in Communication award from the Department of Communications.  He is the younger half-brother of the late trumpeter and music icon Miles Davis.
